Sunday September 13th, 2011 – [Kaleme] In response to claims by a fundamentalist political party (Jamiyat Isargaran), that has demanded that reformist groups participate in the upcoming elections under a name other than “reformist” Fakhrolsaadat Mohtashamipour, a member of the reformist group, The Islamic Iran Participation Front and wife of Mostafa Taajzadeh responded: “Some of these gentlemen are demanding that we participate in the elections under a new name. Reformists live by certain ideals and changing colors with the wind goes against every grain of our nature. We will not enter the political scene under a different name, color and slogan every other day. These type of comments and discussions are misleading and designed to distract.”
In an interview with AtyNews a fundamentalist media outlet, Mohtashamipour, Taajzadeh’s wife continued: “These gentlemen have experience with such matters. If you pay close attention, you will see that they participate in every election cycle under a new name with a goal to mislead people with newly devised slogans and a propaganda machine promising fresh ideas and different conditions. The fundamentalist political party Jamiyat Isargaran has engaged in such tactics and demanded that the reformists do the same. We (reformists) view their claims as funny and ridiculous. To date, we have not hesitated to pay any price in order to adhere to our reformist ideals and beliefs.”
Political activists, particularly reformists tend to have programs geared towards women when things are going their way. When the opposite happens however, they completely ignore the challenges facing women. Why is that?
A number of events have occurred in our society that have effected the conditions under which reformist must now operate. The current conditions are very fragile. With regards to the presence of women in the upcoming parliamentary elections, it goes without saying that reformists will always include women in all decision making processes. However, if the conditions for free and fair elections are not met, no reformist woman will be willing to participate in the elections. If however the conditions for free and fair elections are fulfilled, we have enough qualified women willing and able to participate in the elections. Our society has developed sufficiently not to discriminate between women and men and to elect candidates based on their merits.”
Given the high probability that reformist candidates will be disqualified as candidates for the upcoming elections, don’t you think that rather than boycotting the elections, they should consider a change in tactics? It goes without saying that regardless of their political affiliation (fundamentalist or reformist) the parliament needs the presence of women.
Unfortunately, as we witnessed in past parliamentary elections, the issue here is not whether men or women are approved to run, or whether they are elected. We have had women in parliament who made the most promises and did not deliver, or ended up not defending their positions and ultimately siding with the men. We’ve also had men who have paid more attention to the challenges facing women and have voted in the best interest of women. This is particularly true with the Family Protection Bill that required the votes of many lawmakers where men reminded us that it is up to us to make things happen. It would be painful to have a woman who does not understand the demands and needs of our society, elected to parliament. It is of no importance to us whether men or women are elected to parliament. What is important is that the legislation enacted take into consideration the interests of all segments and groups in our society. Unfortunately, when it comes to women and their rights, these laws have been weak at best. For example, parliament has paid little to no attention to the security of women in society. This lack of attention is particularly apparent when it comes to women parliamentarians.
What suggestions do you have to ensure that those who support women’s issue are present in parliament?
I would like to reiterate that the parliament should not consist of representatives that are appointed, but rather should consist of representatives that are elected. You keep bringing up the issue that if reformists candidates are disqualified from running for parliament, they should not boycott the parliamentary elections. What should they do then? Disqualification has no meaning in this context. Our Constitution states that our citizens are free to choose whom ever they deem qualified. If you pay close attention to the Imam’s (Khomeini) words that have been well documented you will notice that no one has the right to ban anyone from voting, or exclude or disqualify any candidate. Our citizens have the maturity to decide who to elect and to decipher between right and wrong and good and bad. If they allow free and fair elections to take place, then we will have much to discuss. As I stated before, in our opinion, if a woman looks at things from a man’s point of view and is insensitive to gender related issues, her presence or lack of presence in parliament is of little to no importance. If however, we have male representatives who are supportive of women’s issues, their presence in parliament will be of utmost importance. What is of crucial here is that no one take the place of the law and that we ensure that free and fair elections take place. Unfortunately, there is very little evidence that this will happen.
I’d like to also point out that some of these gentlemen are demanding that we participate in the elections under a new name. At a time when reformists have remained silent, divergent groups seeking to disrupt have gained momentum. There is fear that they may even take advantage of women’s issues to reach their goals . What is your opinion regarding this matter?
Reformists have not remained silent. Many reformists have given interviews similar to the one I am giving you now. When provided with a platform to present our ideas, we do not hesitate to do so. The challenge we face is the lack of a platform to voice our opinions. The reformist newspapers have been closed down. If they allow us to voice our opinion, those who seeks to create divergence will not dare to do anything against reformists who are the real conservatives, nor will they dare interfere with women’s issues. When I was the head of Women’s Affairs at the Ministry of Interior during the reform years, all provinces and the heads of provinces competed to improve conditions for women.

فخرالسادات محتشمی پور، عضو جبهه مشارکت ایران اسلامی، در پاسخ به یک حزب مدعی اصولگرایی (جمعیت ایثارگران) که خواستار حضور اصلاح طلبان در انتخابات با نامی غیر از اصلاح طلبان! شده بود، گفت: برخی آقایان به ما میگویند با نام دیگری در انتخابات شرکت کنیم. اصلاحطلبی آرمانهایی دارد و در ذات ما بوقلمون صفتی نیست که هر روز با یک رنگ و شعار وارد صحنه شویم. اینها بحث های انحرافی است.
همسر سید مصطفی تاجزاده که با آتی نیوز – از سایتهای خبری اصولگرایان – مصاحبه میکرد، همچنین افزود: خود آقایان این تجربه را دارند. شما اگر دقت کنید در هر انتخابات با نام جدیدی وارد میشوند و مردم را نشناخته دنبال هوای تازه و فضای تازه و این گونه شعارهای تبلیغاتی هستند. این موضوع را جمعیت ایثارگران مطرح کرده بود و همین را از اصلاحطلبان هم خواستند اما این برای ما بسیار خندهدار و مضحک است. ما حاضر شدهایم هر هزینهای را بپردازیم فقط به سبب پایبندی به اعتقادات و آرمانهای اصلاحطلبانه.
متن این مصاحبه به شرح زیر است:
فعالان سیاسی به خصوص اصلاح طلبان، زمانی که روز اقبالشان باشد برای زنان برنامه دارند، اما وقتی دنیا به کامشان نیست کلا حوزه زنان را رها میکنند.چرا این گونه است؟
اتفاقاتی در جامعه افتاده است که شرایط اصلاح طلبان را تحت تأثیر قرار داده و شرایط را شکننده کردهاست. اما در خصوص حضور زنان در انتخابات، اصلاحطلبان هر تصمیمی بگیرند زنان نیز در آن خواهند گنجید. یعنی اگر شرایط انتخاب آزاد محقق نشود، هیچ زن اصلاح طلبی حاضر نیست در انتخابات حضور پیدا کند. اما اگر شرایط اولیه محقق شود، به اندازه کافی زنان شایسته برای شرکت در انتخابات داریم. جامعه نیز آنقدر رشد کرده است که فرقی بین زن و مرد قائل نشود و بر اساس شایستگی انتخاب کند.
فکر نمی کنید بهتر است وقتی اصلاح طلبان رد صلاحیت میشوند به جای تحریم تغییر تاکتیک دهند؟ زیرا مجلس سوای اصلاحطلبی و اصولگرایی به حضور زنان، بسیار نیازمند است.
متأسفانه همانطور که در مجلس دورههای قبل دیدیم، زن و مرد تفاوتی نمیکند. زنانی در مجلس بودند که بیشترین وعده را به زنان دادند و عملی نکردند یا دفاع غلط کردند و در کل موضع مردانه اتخاذ کردند. چه بسا مردانی بودند که بیشتر دقت داشته و به نفع زنان عمل کردند. مخصوصاً در لایحه حمایت از خانواده که به رأی نمایندگان دیگر نیاز داشت، آقایانی بودند که به ما گوشزد می کردند که از شماست که بر شماست! خب این دردآور است که زنی نتواند نیاز جامعه را تشخیص دهد و در مجلس حضور پیدا کند. برای ما مهم نیست زن در مجلس باشد یا مرد باشد. مهم این است که قوانینی که تصویب می شود، مصالح و منافع همه گروه های اجتماعی را مد نظر داشته باشد که متأسفانه در خصوص موقعیت و حقوق زنان بسیار ضعیف عمل شده است. برای مثال اکنون هیچ توجهی به امنیت اجتماعی زنان از سوی مجلس به خصوص زنان مجلس نشده است.
اکنون پیشنهاد شما برای حضور این تفکرات حامی زنان در مجلس چیست؟
من باز هم تأکید می کنم مجلس نباید به گونهای باشد که نمایندگان آن انتخابی نباشند و انتصابی باشند. حالا شما میگویید رد صلاحیت میشوند نباید تحریم کنند. پس چه کنند؟ خب رد صلاحیت معنی ندارد. قانون اساسی به نحوی تعبیه شده است که مردم را در انتخاب افراد صالح و شایسته آزاد میگذارد. شما اگر به فرمایشات امام راحل(ره) دقت بفرمایید که اسناد آن نیز موجود است میبینید که هیچ احدی حق ندارد کسی را از حق رأی یا حق نامزد شدن منع کند و یا رد کند. مردم خود به این بلوغ رسیدهاند که چه کسی را انتخاب کنند و بد و خوب را تشخیص میدهند. حال اگر بگذارند انتخابات آزاد برگزار شود، آن وقت حرف برای گفتن بسیار داریم. عرض کردم زنی که نگاه مردانه داشته باشد و حساسیتهای جنسیتی لازم را نداشته باشد، بود و نبودش در مجلس از نظر ما فرقی ندارد. اما اگر مردانی باشند که تفکرات حامی زنان داشته باشند حضورشان در مجلس اولی است. الان مهم این است که کسی جای قانون ننشیند و انتخابات سالم برگزار شود که البته شاهدی دال بر این مهم وجود ندارد.

در زمانی که اصلاح طلبان سکوت کرده اند، جریانات انحرافی به شدت در حال شکل گیری هستند و بیم آن هست که از حوزه زنان نیز سوءاستفاده کنند. نظر شما در این خصوص چیست؟
اصلاحطلبان سکوت نکردهاند. همانطور که من با شما مصاحبه میکنم، خیلیهای دیگر نیز هستند. هر جا تریبونی برایمان گذاشتند، ما بودهایم. مشکل عدم تریبون است. اصلاح طلبان را بازداشت میکنند. روزنامه هایشان را توقیف میکنند. اگر بگذارند ما هم حرفهایمان را بزنیم، جریان انحرافی جرات نمیکند در برابر اصولگرایی واقعی که اصلاحطلبان دارند، دست از پا خطا کند و در حوزه زنان دخالت کند. در دوره اصلاحات که من مدیرکل امور زنان وزارت کشور بودم، همه استان ها و استاندارها در رقابت بودند که از زنان در جایگاه های بهتری استفاده کنند
