Incarcerated Human Rights Lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh Attends Private Funeral Services for Her Late Mother

December 24th, 2012 [Kaleme] – Despite efforts by Nasrin Sotoudeh’s family members to hold a public funeral service for Nasrin’s late mother at one of the mosques in Tehran, judicial and security authorities prevented such public services from taking place and Sotoudeh was instead allowed to attend a private funeral ceremony alongside her family and friends at her late mother’s residence.

According to reports by Kaleme incarcerated human rights lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh is currently mourning the passing of her late mother alongside family and friends at a private ceremony taking place at her late mother’s home.

The public funeral service was to have been held at Tehran’s Noor Mosque, however, the individuals responsible for the mosque contacted the family claiming that security authorities had informed them that the funeral service may be politicized and will therefore be prevented from taking place. Following the cancellation of the service at Tehran’s Noor Mosque, preparations were made for holding the services at Hazrat-e-Rasoul Mosque, but this attempt was also circumvented by security authorities.

The family was therefore left with no other alternative but to hold a private Koran recital ceremony at the residence of Sotoudeh’s late mother and Sotoudeh is currently attending this service accompanied by a number of security agents.

حضور نسرین ستوده در مراسم ترحیم مادرش در منزل

چکیده :ماموران قضایی و امنیتی که از برگزاری مراسم ختم مادر نسرین ستوده در مساجد مختلف شهر جلوگیری کردند، اجازه دادند تا این وکیل زندانی برای ساعاتی در میان بستگان و دوستان عزادارش، در منزل مادرش حضور یابد….

ماموران قضایی و امنیتی که از برگزاری مراسم ختم مادر نسرین ستوده در مساجد مختلف شهر جلوگیری کردند، اجازه دادند تا این وکیل زندانی برای ساعاتی در میان بستگان و دوستان عزادارش، در منزل مادرش حضور یابد.

به گزارش خبرنگار کلمه، نسرین ستوده در حال حاضر در منزل مادری خود و جمع داغداران درگذشت مادرش حضور دارد که اجازه برگزاری مراسم ختم را با وجود هماهنگی های قبلی از آنها دریغ کردند.

طبق اخبار قبلی قرار بود این مراسم ختم در مسجد نور تهران برگزار شود که مسئولان مسجد اعلام کردند طی تماس مسئولان به آنها گفته شده مراسم ممکن است سیاسی شود، لذا از برگزاری آن ممانعت کنید. سپس مسجد حضرت رسول (ص) برای برگزاری این مراسم هماهنگ شد که جلوی برگزاری این مراسم هم گرفته شد.

در نتیجه خانواده ستوده در منزل آن مرحومه برای قرائت فاتحه گرد هم آمدند که نسرین ستوده نیز از زندان، به همراه تعدادی از ماموران همراه به آنها پیوست و در حال حاضر در منزل خود به سر می برد.

When Nasrin was first arrested, her father was in the ICU and in terrible condition. I asked her interrogator at the time to allow Nasrin to come and spend the last few moments of her father’s life with him, but they never allowed it. Her father passed away and they continued to denied her the right to participate in his funeral and burial ceremony. Her father passed away and Nasrin had to live with the fact that she had not been able to say goodbye to him for the rest of her life. Shame on those who continue to be a perplexing phenomenon when it comes to upholding the most fundamental of human needs!

We have been writing the prosecutor letters for over a year, requesting that Nasrin be allowed to see her mother, if only for a few brief moments – a mother who has been banned from seeing her daughter… Alas to no avail…

Last night Nasrin’s mother was transferred to a hospital in dire condition. She is currently in the intensive care unit.

Today we were  granted face to face visitation with Nasrin.  Despite the fact that she is no longer on hunger strike, physically there was little change in her from last week.

Up to this moment, Nasrin has received no medical attention, even for her digestive problems that were predictable [as a result of her hunger strike.]

Furthermore, the authorities have yet to respond to our request for medical furlough.

By the way as soon as the topic of her last statement presented at the Sakharov Award Ceremony came up, Nasrin explained that she had written that statement three days after her hunger strike under very difficult physical conditions and as a result she had forgotten to include a number of issues.   Nasrin was in particular very upset that she had neglected to mention the conditions surrounding the house arrest of Mir Hossein Mousavi, Zahra Rahnavard and Mehdi Karroubi.  Nasrin asked me to make sure that her apology is relayed to these dear colleagues.  She stated that after the statement had been published she realized that she had failed to mention this important issue and other items, but the statement had already been published and she had no means to contact anyone [from prison] in order to request that additions be made.  She was very upset regarding this matter.

امروز به همراه چند تن از خانواده‌ها ملاقات حضوری داشتیم. نسرین با وجود این که دیگر در اعتصاب غذا نیست ولی از نظر جسمی نسبت به هفته‌ی قبل تقریبا فرقی نکرده بود.
تا این لحظه هیچ گونه خدمات پزشکی دریافت نکرده است با وجود مشکلات گوارشی که قابل پیش‌بینی هم بود.
هنوز به درخواست‌های مرخصی استعلاجی هیچ پاسخی نداده‌اند.
در ضمن تا صحبت از بیانیه‌ای شد که به مراسم اهدای جایزه‌ی ساخاروف ارسال کرده بود, گفت که من آن بیانیه را سه روز بعد از اعتصاب غذا در شرایط نامساعد جسمی تهیه کرده بودم و خیلی از موارد را فراموش کردم که بنویسم. از جمله اشاره به شرایط حبس خانم رهنورد و آقایان موسوی و کروبی. از من خواست که حتما عذر خواهی‌اش را از این بابت به اطلاع این عزیزان برسانم.
او گفت که بعد از ارسال بیانیه متوجه این مورد مهم و موارد دیگری شدم ولی متاسفانه بیانیه رفته بود و من هیچ کانالی پیدا نکردم تا سفارش کنم این قسمت‌ها را اضافه کنند. از این بابت خیلی ناراحت بود

Nasrin Sotoudeh’s Physical Condition Now Alarming Warns Her Husband Reza Khandan

I don’t mean to cause concern or fear amongst our friends and supporters, however a sense of alarm has left me with no other recourse but to warn everyone….

As Nasrin entered the 41st day of her hunger strike yesterday, we were informed that her physical condition had gravely deteriorated and was now alarming. She was transferred to the infirmary at Evin prison and it has been reported that from now on, she will be taken to the infirmary every day.  Her blood pressure has collapsed to such a degree that the individual taking the measurement was unable to tell her what the measurement was.

The judicial authorities can deny everything, but the truth always prevails; the truth eventually crashes upon those who claim ignorance.  No amount of justification, fabrications, projection onto others and denying the facts will solve the existing problem.

My wife is merely asking: “Why are you punishing our 12 year old daughter because of her mother?”

To date no one from within this bureaucracy laden judiciary has responded to this legal yet rudimentary question.

قصد ایجاد نگرانی بین دوستان ندارم
احساس خطر مجبورم میکند که هشدار را داده باشم.
نسرین از دیروز که وارد چهل و یکمین روز اعتصاب غذا شده است وضع جسمی اش به مرحله ی خطرناک رسیده است.
دیروز به بهداری منتقل شده است و از این به بعد قرار شده است که هر روز به بهداری برود. فشارش آنقدر پایین بوده است که شخصی که فشار خونش را اندازه گیری کرده نتوانسته اندازه اش را به او بگوید.
مسولین قوه ی قضاییه میتوانند همه
چیز را انکار کنند اما واقعیت همیشه مثل آوار بر سر کسانی که خود را به بیراهه میزنند آوار می شود. توجیه و فرافکنی و پاک کردن صورت مسئله هم مشکل را حل نخواهد نمی کند.
نسرین خواسته ی غیر قانونی ندارد.
او میگوید: “چرا بچه ی 12 ساله ی ما را به خاطر مادر مجازات می کنید!!؟”
کسی تا این لحظه در این دستگاه عریض و طویل قضایی به این سوال قانونی و بدیهی پاسخ نداده است

BREAKING NEWS| Nasrin Sotoudeh Transferred Back to the General Ward at Evin Prison

Reza Khandan , the husband of incarcerated human rights lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh now on the 34th day of her hunger strike, writes the following on his facebook page today:

I was just informed that following 19 days of solitary confinement, Nasrin was transferred back to Evin prison’s general female ward [where she was previously being kept] and is now with the rest of the female political prisoners.

This is the only news we have received.  We unfortunately have no news of her physical condition and well being and must await more detailed reports from inside Evin.

Sotoudeh’s Son Nima: “Mommy Said Save this Kiss and Give it to your Daddy!”

When Nima came out of the prison gates today, the first thing he did was to swipe off his mothers kiss from his cheeks and say: “Mommy said to save this kiss and to give it to you when I came out!”

Last night after what happened yesterday [the 3 1/2 hour wait outside of the gates of Evin without seeing Nasrin], they contacted us from the prison and told us to take the children to Evin so they could visit with Nasrin.  The children were allowed to see their mother for a few minutes at a location other than the usual visitation area in the presence of security officers.  The children spoke to their mother about their affairs, about school, homework and their other activities.

Unfortunately none of us were allowed to accompany the children to visit with Nasrin. We were not even allowed to accompany them inside the prison to make sure that they had successfully passed the guards at the entrance.

Nasrin’s hunger strike continues…

نيما امروز از در زندان كه بيرون آمد اول از همه بوس مامان‌اش را از لپ‌اش كند و چسباند به لپ من.

گفت:
“مامان گفتش كه اين بوس را نگه‌دار، رفتي بيرون بچسبان به لپ بابا”

اينچنين بود كه به دنبال اتفاقاتي كه ديروز افتاد. ديشب از زندان تماس گرفتند و گفتند كه امروز بچه‌ها را براي ملاقات بياوريد.
بچه‌ها براي دقايقي در محلي خارج از سالن ملاقات در حضور ماموران امنيتي دقايقي با مادرشان ملاقات كردند.
صحبت‌هايي كه رد و بدل شده بود همه مربوط به مسائل بچه‌ها بوده است. از درس و مشق تا بازهاي و مشغوليت‌هاي آنها.
متاسفانه به هيچكدام از ماها اجازه ندادند همراه بچه‌ها نسرين را ملاقات و يا تا محوطه‌ي زندان آنها را همراهي كنيم تا با خيال راحت از رديف ماموران ورودي زندان عبور كنند.
اعتصاب او همچنان ادامه‌دارد.
حال او را از مهراوه پرسيدم. گفت كه لاغر شده و گاهي وقت‌ها به بهداري مي‌رود، همين …
و بيش از اين هم از او انتظار نمي‌رود كه دقيقا وضع مادرش را توضيح دهد.
در ضمن به مهراوه گفته بود شماره‌ي آقاي درياني را به عمه بده تا هر وقت چيزي لازم دارد تا آنجا نرود، زنگ بزند تا برايش بفزستند.

Sotoudeh’s Husband “My Wife’s Transfer to Solitary Confinement is Against the Law”

Sunday November 11th, 2012 – From the Facebook of Reza Khandan the husband of incarcerated human rights lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh now on the 27th day of her hunger strike in solitary confinement at Evin prison.

Many friends and supporters have sent me messages asking about Nasriin’s condition and whether we have any news or if we have spoken to her by phone.

We have no news from Nasrin as of last Monday.  Given that the infirmary at ward 209 [under the supervision of the Ministry of Intelligence] is separate from the infirmary at Evin prison, even if she would be transferred to the infirmary, no one would be informed.

Nasrin has been deprived of phone calls for the past 18 months. She is currently in solitary confinement and without a cell mate.  The fact that she is in solitary confinement and has been deprived of weekly visitations, means that no one will be able to speak to her even to encourage her to discontinue her hunger strike.  Given her current situation, the messages from various individuals and groups requesting that she break her hunger strike will therefore not reach her.

The only news we have heard, is that a few days ago they took  her prescription glasses, one book and a hot water bottle from the general ward [350] , but we are not sure if they were given to her.  We received this news via the general ward where Nasrin was being kept until 12 days ago, for no news is ever received from the Intelligence Ministry’s ward 209.

Nasrin’s presence at the Intelligence Ministry’s ward 209 is completely illegal.  Detainees are taken to this ward during their interrogation process and not once their sentences have been issued. In addition to punishing her with solitary confinement, they have also deprived her of her legal right to visitation.

At the Intelligence Ministry’s Ward 209, prisoners are required to wear a blindfold even when using the restrooms.

The prison authorities are responsible for explaining why someone who was serving her prison sentence is now spending her days behind bars in solitary confinement at the Intelligence Ministry’s ward 209.

خيلي از دوستان پيغام مي‌فرستند كه خبري از نسرين و وضعيت‌اش بدهم. تلفني – خبري …

از دوشنبه‌ي گذشته به اين طرف هيچ خبري از نسرين نداريم …
از آنجا كه درمانگاه بند اطلاعات با درمانگاه زندان فرق ميكند اگر هم به درمانگاه رفته باشد هيچكس خبردار نخواهد شد.
18 ماه است كه تلفن ندارد. بدون هم سلولي و در انفرادي است.
بودن او در سلول انفرادي و نداشتن ملاقات هفتگي باعث خواهد شد كه هيچكس نتواند با او صحبت
كند و حتي تشويق به پايان دادن به اعتصاب غذا. پيغام‌ افراد و يا گروهاي مختلف براي پايان دادن به اعتصاب غذا به او نميرسد.

فقط شنيده‌ام كه چند روز پيش عينك مطالعه، يك جلد كتاب و يك عدد كيسه‌ي آب گرم از بند عمومي گرفته‌اند و مطمئن نيستم به او داده‌اند يا نه؟ و چون اينها را از بند عمومي كه تا 12 روز پيش نسرين آنجا بود، برده‌اند اين خبر به ما رسيده است. وگرنه از 209 اطلاعات هيچ خبري بيرون نمي‌آيد.

بودن او در 209 اطلاعات كاملا غير قانوني است. 209 در مرحله بازجويي است نه براي كسي كه حكم‌اش را ميگذراند.

قرار تنبيهي هم كه به او داده‌اند سلول انفرادي است ولي به طور غير قانوني ممنوع الملاقات هم كرده‌اند.

209 بندي است كه زنداني براي استفاده از دستشويي هم بايد چشم بند داشته باشد.
مسولين زندان بايد پاسخگو باشند چرا زنداني‌ي كه در حال سپري كردن حكم‌اش است اكنون به دست بند امنيتي 209 سپرده شده است.

Nasrin Sotoudeh’s Children Denied Visitation with Their Mother on the 26th Day of Her Hunger Strike

The prosecutor’s office contacted us stating that the children have been granted a face to face, personal visit with Nasrin. We went to the prosecutor’s office at Tehran Bazaar at around 1:00pm to pick up the letter granting us the visitation, picked Mehraveh up from school and arrived at Evin’s visitation area on time, taking Nima who has caught a cold along with us.

At the visitation area, despite the fact that prisoners are normally granted face to face visits if they present a letter, we were told that we need to go to the prison’s main gate in order to visit with Nasrin.

At the main gate, after presenting them with the letter allowing us to see Nasrin in person, we were forced to wait 3 hours. Nima who suffers from asthma started having a cough attack as a result of his cold and the poor air condition.

The prison’s administration office eventually closed and an hour after the official prison visitation hours and after such a long wait, we returned home extremely disappointed, never being able to see Nasrin.

The children were starring at that prison gate for 3 1/2 hours. Every time that gate opened and closed they waited patiently to hear their names so that they could see their mother. Alas it never happened!

It appears as though they all worked in unison to make sure our children would suffer today. I am sure they are playing even uglier games with Nasrin in her prison cell. I suppose if they succeed our country will be prosperous, our economy booming, poverty, addiction and unemployment will be eradicated and our country will stand tall , holding its head up high vis-a-vis the world at large!

از دادستاني تماس گرفتند و گفتند بچه‌ها نامه‌ي ملاقات حضوري دارند. ظرف يك ساعت بايد خودم را به دادستاني كه در بازار تهران است ميرساندم، مهراوه را از مدرسه و نيما را كه سرما خورده است از خانه بر ميداشتم و سر ساعت در سالن ملاقات حاضر مي‌شديم.
سالن ملاقات كه هميشه با نامه‌ي دادستاني ملاقات حضوري ميدهد اعلام كرد كه ملاقات شما از درب اصلي زندان و محلي كه زندانيان رفت و آمد مي‌كنند بايد صورت بگيرد.
با اي
ن حال درب اصلي نامه‌ي دادستاني را از ما گرفت و درست سه ساعت و نيم ما را مقابل زندان منتظر گذاشت. سرفه‌هاي آسم نيما كه سرما خورده است در هواي آلوده‌ي آنجا شروع شد.
بخش اداري زندان تعطيل شد و يك ساعت پس از تعطيلي زندان دست از پا درازتر برگشتيم. 3 ساعت و نيم چشم بچه‌ها به در زندان بود و با هردفعه باز و بسته شدن منتظر بودند كه آنها را براي ملاقات صدا ميكنند. اما هيچوقت اين اتفاق نيفتاد.
اين هم ملاقات حضوري دادستاني بود براي بچه‌هايي كه مادرشان در اعتصاب غذا است و 4 ماه است كه از ملاقات حضوري بچه‌هايش محروم است.
همه‌‌ي آنها دست به دست هم دادند تا امروز حسابي حال بچه‌ها و ما را بگيرند. مطمئنا بازيهاي بدتري هم الان با نسرين در داخل سلول مي‌كنند و اگر موفق شوند كشور ما آباد اقتصاد ما پررونق، فقر، اعتياد و بيكاري ريشه‌كن و در مقابل كشورهاي ديگر سربلند خواهيم شد.

Reza Khandan – “Our First and Foremost Priority is to Convince Nasrin to End her Hunger Strike”

I recall a few years ago a dear friend had launched a hunger strike and I jokingly said to Nasrin: “Why do those who plan to launch a hunger strike eat so little? They should launch a strike to eat more and become stronger in order to build endurance to tolerate their time behind bars.”

A few days ago, having been quoted several times through the grapevine, our comments summarized and modified, I saw a headline printed in a media outlets that read: “Let us put pressure on the authorities, rather than ask her to break her hunger strike.”

There is no doubt in my mind that this statement was not deliberate, but rather was a version of what had originally been said, after being recounted and summarized repeatedly as it circulated from person to person.

When a hunger strike is launched, the first priority of the family and friends of the individual launching a hunger is their health and well being. We are no exception to this rule. For us, Nasrin’s rationale and objective for launching a hunger strike is secondary, our first and foremost priority is that she breaks her hunger strike. The statement I had made was as follows:

In addition to asking Nasrin to break her hunger strike, we should complain to the authorities who leave prisoners with no other recourse but to put their lives in danger in order to obtain their fundamental rights. A group of women did this when they asked Nasrin to break her hunger strike and at the same time wrote a letter to Tehran’s prosecutor protesting Nasrin’s current situation, waiting hours on end at the prosecutor’s office in order to personally deliver their letter to the authorities.

We may think that these types of actions have no effect. If that is the case, then we must seek to find methods that are more effective.

Rest assured that now that Nasrin is on a hunger strike, our first and foremost priority lies in convincing Nasrin to break her hunger strike.

یادمهست چند سال پیش در جریان اعتصاب غذای یکی از عزیزان به شوخی به نسرین گفتم “چرا اینها که می خواهند اعتصاب غذا کنند, غذا نمی خورند؟ اعتصاب زیاد خوردن بکنند تا قوی تر شوند و بتوانند با قدرت به حبس شان ادامه دهند.”

این روزها پس از چند بار نقل قول از منابعی و خلاصه کردن صحبت های چند روز پیش من, جایی تیتر شده است:
“نخواهیم اعتصابش را بشکند به مسئولان فشار بیاوریم”

تردیدی ندارم کسی تعمدی نداشته و پس
از چند بار دست به دست شدن و خلاصه کردن, مطلب به این شکل درآمده است.

در زمان اعتصاب غذا اولویت برای خانواده و دوستان کسی که اعتصاب غذا می کند سلامتی جسم و جان آن شخص است.

ما در این مورد استثنا نیستیم. بنابراین برای خانواده ی ما, خواست نسرین از اعتصاب, در درجه ی دوم اهمیت است. شکستن اعتصاب غذا برای ما در اولویت است.
عرض من این بوده است که :
در کنار درخواست برای شکستن اعتصاب غذا, اعتراض کنیم به مسولانی که زندانی را به جایی می رسانند که حاضر می شود جان عزیزش را برای به دست آوردن ابتدایی ترین حقوق اش به خطر بیندازد.
کاری که گروهی از زنان انجام دادند. آنها هم از نسرین خواستند اعتصاب اش را بشکند و هم نامه نوشتند به دادستان تهران و اعتراضشان را اعلام کردند.

آنها ساعتها در دادستانی معطل شدند و نامه ی اعتراضی خود را به مسولین آنجا تحویل دادند

ممکن است فکر کنیم این کارها هیچ تاثیری ندارد. صحیح …
اگر چنین است باید بنشینیم, فکر بکنیم و راهی پیدا کنیم که تاثیر گذار باشد.
مطمئن باشید در این روزها که نسرین در اعتصاب غذاست تمام سعی و ما در درجه اول منصرف کردن او از ادامه ی اعتصاب غذاست

October 20th, 2012 [Kaleme] Nasrin Sotoudeh, incarcerated human rights lawyer on hunger strike since October 17th, 2012 was reportedly transferred to the infirmary at Evin prison two days ago as a result of her deteriorating health condition.

Upon announcing his wife’s recent hunger strike Reza Khandan told Kaleme: “I did everything I could to convince her to change her mind, but she insisted that since she can do nothing while behind bars, she is left with no other recourse but to launch a hunger strike.  Imagine if you will a defense lawyer who must resort to writing her own defense on a piece of napkin and have the napkin be confiscated after she is told that she has committed an illegal act. As if that were not enough, she is then denied face to face visitation with her children for the supposed crime she has committed.  I am concerned for my wife. Even before her hunger strike she had become much too weak and had lost so much weight that she was unrecognizable to those who hadn’t seen her for a while.”

Reza Khandan added: “From the very start we have faced a myriad of challenges. There have been issues with our visitation rights, and we have been summoned and threatened an issue that my wife is naturally very sensitive about, particularly as the threats and pressure has been ongoing and have shifted towards our children.  My daughter has been banned from leaving the country. Recently we were contacted by the 28th branch of the Revolutionary Court regarding her travel ban and we have now been orally summoned. My wife is also aware of this latest development.  Our face to face visitations have been denied by the prosecutor’s office for the past three months.  Unlike other political prisoners who see their families on Sundays, our visitations from behind a cabin window have now been moved to Wednesdays in order to further isolate us and control our interactions.  My daughter Mehraveh must attend a 4 hour mathematics class on Wednesdays. It goes without saying that she cannot skip class every week and as of mid September she has only been able to visit with her mother once. When Mehraveh is not there with us, our visits become that much harder to bear.  We requested that they switch our visitation day to Sundays when all other families visit their loved ones or to any day in the week, but they would not agree.  Furthermore, like all other political prisoners, our telephone privileges have also been banned for the past 18 months. It goes without saying that it is very difficult for a mother to have no news of her children during the entire week.”

Nasrin Sotoudeh has been behind bars since September 4th, 2010. She was charged with acting against the national security of the country, propaganda against the regime and membership in The Defenders of Human Rights Center and sentenced to 11 years in prison (later reduced to 6 years by the appeals court), banned from practicing the law for 20 years and banned from leaving the country.  Sotoudeh was also fined $500 dollars for non adherence to the Islamic dress code (Hijab).

به گزارش خبرنگار کلمه، نسرین ستوده، فعال حقوق بشر و وکیل محبوس در بند زنان زندان اوین که از هفته ی پیش دست به اعتصاب غذای اعتراضی زده بود دو روز پیش در پی وخامت حالش به بهداری این زندان منتقل شده است.

رضا خندان، همسر نسرین ستوده، هفته ی گذشته در گفتگو با کلمه با اعلام خبر اعتصاب غذای وی در زندان گفته بود: من خیلی اصرار کردم که از اعتصاب غذا صرف نظر کند اما می گفت من هیچ کاری اینجا از دستم بر نمی آید و آخرین راه اعتراض برای من همین اعتصاب غذا است. شما تصور کنید یک وکیل لایحه ی دفاعیه ی خودش را که دادسرا خواسته محاکمه کند، ناچار شده روی یک دستمال کاغذی بنویسد و آن را هم ازش گرفته اند به عنوان یک کار غیرقانونی و از آن تاریخ ملاقات حضوری بچه ها را قطع کردند. من نگران همسرم هستم، او در حال حاضر هم از شدت ضعف و لاغری قیافه اش درست قابل شناسایی نیست برای کسانی که در این مدت او را ندیده اند چه برسد از این به بعد.

وی در تشریح غذا همسرش گفته بود: ما از اول همواره مشکلاتی داشتیم درباره ی ملاقات ها و احضارها و تهدیدها، خصوصا روی خانواده که طبعا حساسیت همسر من است و در حال حاضر مدتی است که این فشارها بیشتر شده و تمرکز آن را بر روی بچه های ما گذاشتند. دخترم را ممنوع الخروج کردند و اخیرا از شعبه ۲۸ دادگاه انقلاب تماس گرفتند در رابطه با آن ممنوع الخروجی ما را شفاها احضار کردند، که همسرم از این هم خبر دار شد. از طرفی ملاقات های حضوری ما هم بیش از سه ماه است که توسط دادستانی قطع شده، ملاقات های کابینی ما را هم به روزهای چهارشنبه تبعید کردند که مانند بقیه روزهای یکشنبه نباشیم تا اینگونه بتوانند ما را منزوی کرده و تحت کنترل داشته باشند. از سوی دیگر دختر من روزهای چهارشنبه ۴ ساعت درس ریاضی دارد که منطقا نمی تواند هر هفته غیبت کند و از اول مهرماه فقط یک بار توانسته به دیدن مادرش بیاید. و وقتی که مهراوه نمی آید رفتن ما بی او کمی سخت و تلخ است. تقاضا کردیم که روز را تغییر بدهند، درخواست کردیم مثل بقیه یکشنبه باشد و یا هر روز دیگری غیر از این روز که مخالفت کردند. مشکل دیگر هم بحث تلفن است که ۱۸ ماه است تلفن های زندانیان سیاسی قطع شده و این بی خبری برای یک مادر در طول هفته آزار دهنده است.

نسرین ستوده از ۱۳ شهریور ۱۳۸۹ در بازداشت است و در دادگاه به جرم “اقدام علیه امنیت ملی، تبانی و تبلیغ علیه نظام و عضویت در کانون مدافعان حقوق بشر” به تحمل ۱۱ سال حبس تعزیری، ۲۰ سال محرومیت از وکالت و ۲۰ سال ممنوعیت خروج از کشور و به جرم تظاهر به بی حجابی به ۵۰ هزار تومان جریمه
