Mir Hossein Mousavi: “Human Rights are God Given & Cannot Be Revoked!”

ImageRespect for human dignity and human rights independent of ideology, religion, gender, ethnicity, and social status are core social values honored and embraced by the Green Movement.

The Green Movement fully endorses the establishment and protection of human rights principles, one of humanity’s most important accomplishments, achieved through the collective wisdom of all mankind.

Human rights are God-given rights and hence cannot be revoked by any ruler, government, parliament or other power, nor can such rights be restricted unjustifiably or arbitrarily.Recognizing [the importance of] protecting such rights requires respect for fundamental principles such as equality, tolerance, dialogue, peace, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts; fundamental principles that can be upheld through the establishment of independent media outlets, the elimination of censorship, free access to information, the strengthening of civil societies, respect for the privacy of citizens, tolerance for the establishment of non-governmental social networks, and the reform of laws and regulations with the goal to ensure the elimination of all forms of social discrimination.

Dear Banouye Sabz, I regularily follow your blogs which is an invaluable source of information about the democratic movement in Iran. But I have one concern that relates to the prominent role of Mir Hussein Mousavi. There are very serious sources that show his role in the massacres in 1988 that led to the killing of large opposition groups in Iran by the IRI regime. This all happend when Mousavi was prime minister. Although I very much believe that people have the right to revise their opinion, and to change from lies to the truth, but this all requires that they frankly confess the errors they did ones. Has Mousavi ever came forward to tell the truth about the 1988 massacres and explain his role ?

A small comment: In your Categories section, there is a spelling mistake in his name. It reads “Mouvai” instead of Moussavi.
