In a letter addressed to the honorable Iranian nation, the children of opposition leaders Mehdi Karroubi, Mir Hossein Mousavi and Zahra Rahnavard now under illegal house arrest for almost two years, demand that the authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran allow their parents to take their case directly to the people of Iran, calling upon the authorities to release their parents and put an immediate end to the violation of their basic legal and human rights.

In the name of God the Merciful
To the honorable and noble Iranian nation,
Forty three months after the rigged tenth presidential elections and as we approach the eleventh presidential elections, the officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran continue to ignore the deplorable domestic and international conditions that have resulted from their failed policies and conceal the existing corruption by focusing instead on a supposed “sedition” utilizing a variety of biased official and unofficial media outlets, such as the national television station (IRIB) at the expense of the public treasury, in an effort to continue to threaten and publish unfair accusations against Mehdi Karroubi, Mir Hossein Mousavi, their supporters and the protesting Iranian nation. A ruling establishment that claims to be fair and to uphold the rule of law has yet to allow these honorable men to defend themselves in the national media outlets. Notwithstanding the aforementioned facts, our loved ones remain in strong spirits and continue to steadfastly stand behind their ideals and in defense of their basic rights. Furthermore, they believe that the only means for the ruling establishment to traverse the current unfortunate situation is for the government to comply with the will of the people, granting the people the right to self determination.
23 months have passed since the illegal detention [in a location determined by the ruling establishment] of Mir Hossein Mousavi, Zahra Rahnavard and Mehdi Karroubi; 23 months of unreasonable detention without access to the due process of the law. During this time our loved ones have been denied the basic rights afforded to ordinary prisoners such as the right to regular communication and visitations, particularly with their family members and free access to the news. There have been times that face to face visitations and all telephone contact has completely cut off for long periods of time, leaving two families completely in the dark about such basic matters including where their loved ones were being kept, how they live and the status of their health and well being. Those responsible for their detention are in complete control the method of communication, when it can take place, which members of the family are allowed access and communication rights and who will be denied visitation. In addition to the illegal, inhumane and unreasonable nature of this detention, it’s nature is also so vague and unclear and all communication with the outside world has been completely banned. Furthermore, the family members are deprived of accurate, complete and transparent information regarding the status of Karroubi, Mousavi and Rahnvard and the publishing of any news regarding their condition is strictly prohibited. Some family members have even been threatened, punished and forced to endure illegal and unjustified pressure because they reported on the condition of their loved ones.
Insistence on the violation of basic human rights and non compliance with the current laws and regulations in Iran as it relates to Mousavi the former Prime Minister of Iran during the eight year holy war with Iraq, Karroubi the former twice head of Iran’s parliament and Rahnavard an artist, a religious scholar and women rights activist, whose only crime was to defend basic human rights and the right of the Iranian nation to self determination, would not happen without the approval or knowledge of the country’s highest authorities. After almost two years of house arrest however, not one official of the ruling establishment has had the courage to take responsibility for the legal status of our loved ones who continue to be supported by a large segment of Iran’s society. It goes without saying that the lack of courage necessary to take responsibility for this illegal arrest and detention is not dignified of our country’s highest authorities.
We the family members of Mehdi Karroubi, Mir Hossein Mousavi and Zahra Rahnavard solemnly declare that the officials of the ruling establishment must immediately put an end to the violation of the legal and human rights of our loved ones. We urgently seek an opportunity for our loved ones to present the injustices imposed upon them, the lengthy charges against them, not to mention the undue arrest and violence imposed upon them, their family members and their supporters, so they may take their case to the noble and courageous people of Iran. They have always wanted the opportunity to tell the truth and describe the events that have occurred on national television without the presence, interference and intimidation of security forces. A right that we their family members support and to date they have unfortunately been denied. We once again ask that their medical treatment and care take place under the continuous supervision of physicians that are trusted by their family members. Visitation rights with all family members should be reinstated on a regular basis and in a peaceful environment void of arbitrary behavior. The country’s highest authorities must immediately deal with the case file against our parents and after almost two years of illegal house arrest, release our parents immediately and without further unfounded excuses.

فرزندان کروبی، موسوی و رهنورد در بیانیه ای خطاب به ملت ایران با بیان مظالمی که بر والدینشان می رود از حاکمیت خواسته اند تا به والدین آنها فرصتی داده شود تا بتوانند از ظلم رفته بر آنها و حجم انبوه اتهام ها، دستگیری بی مورد و خشونت رفته برخود، خانواده و تمام دوستدارانشان به پیشگاه مردم شریف و دلیر ایران شکایت کنند.
در بیانیه ای که به امضای فرزندان کروبی، موسوی و رهنورد رسیده با تاکید بر ضرورت توقف نقض حقوق قانونی و انسانی والدین خود همچنین نسبت به سلامت آنها ابراز نگرانی و تاکید شده که آنان باید تحت نظارت و مراقبت تیم پزشکی معتمد خانواده قرار گیرند.
فرزندان کروبی، موسوی و رهنورد با اشاره به حصر غیرقانونی و غیرشرعی والدین خود تصریح کرده اند: اصرار بر نقض آشکار حقوق اولیه انسانی و قوانین و مقرارت جاری کشوری در مورد نخست وزیر هشت سال دفاع مقدس، رییس دو دوره مجلس شورای اسلامی و هنرمندی قرآن پژوه و فعال حقوق زنان، که تنها گناه آنها دفاع از حق تعیین سرنوشت مردم و مطالبه اجرای عادلانه قانون اساسی و حقوق اولیه انسانی ایرانیان می باشد، نمی تواند بدون تایید یا اطلاع مقامات عالی کشور باشد. اما بعد از گذشت نزدیک به دو سال از زندان خانگی، هنوز هیچ مقام رسمی شجاعت پذیرش مسولیت رسمی برای تعیین وضعیت قضایی عزیزان ما که مورد مهر بخش عظیمی از مردم ایران هستند، نیافته است. پر واضح است که فقدان شجاعت لازم در پذیرش مسئولیت بازداشت و حبس غیر قانونی رافع مسئولیت مقامات ارشد نظام نیست.

مردم شریف و سرافراز ایران
پس از گذشت ۴۳ ماه از انتخابات مهندسی شده دوره دهم و در آستانه انتخابات یازدهم ریاست جمهوری مقامات رسمی کشور بدون توجه به وضعیت اسفبار داخلی و بین المللی ناشی از سیاست های غلط چند سال گذشته و نیز برای سرپوش گذاشتن بر فساد حاکم، هنوز از فتنه می گویند و در این مسیر با بهره گیری از بی هویت های آلوده و فاسد در تریبون های مختلف بویژه صدا و سیمای انحصاری، مطبوعات و سایت های رسمی و غیر رسمی که از بیت المال ارتزاق می کنند همچنان به تهدید و ایراد تهمت های ناروا نسبت به آقایان کروبی و موسوی و مردم معترض و همراهان آنان ادامه می دهند. حکومت مدعی عدالت و شریعت بعد از چند سال هتاکی و فحاشی و ایراد افترا به این عزیزان برای یک بار هم اجازه دفاع به آنان را در رسانه ملی نداده است. عزیزان ما با روحیه قوی، استوار و پایدار بر مواضع اصولی و به حق خود ایستاده اند و تنها راه خروج نظام از وضعیت اسفبار فعلی را در تمکین حاکمیت به اراده ملت و برسمیت شناختن حق تعیین سرنوشت شان می دانند.
۲۳ ماه است که آقای موسوی و خانم رهنورد در منزل خود و آقای کروبی در مکانی که مقامات امنیتی برای آنها تعیین کرده اند، بدون طی کردن مراحل قانونی و بی دلیل زندانی می باشند. در این ایام آنها از حقوق زندانیان عادی، بویژه حق ارتباط و ملاقات منظم و مستمر و قاعده مند با اعضای خانواده خود و دسترسی آزاد به وسایل ارتباطی و خبری و … محروم بوده اند. در مواردی برای مدت طولانی ملاقات حضوری یا حتی تلفنی با اعضای خانواده کاملا قطع گردیده است و دو خانواده در بی اطلاعی مطلق نسبت به مکان وچگونگی زندگی و حتی حیات و سلامت آنان قرار گرفته اند. زمان، مکان و نحوه تماس ها یا ملاقات ها و اینکه کدام یک از اعضای خانواده حق ملاقات دارد و یا از این حق محروم می باشد، صرفا در ید اراده مطلق زندانبانان می باشد. علاوه بر غیرقانونی، غیرانسانی و بی دلیل بودن این زندان، شکل آن نیز چنان نامعمول است که هرگونه ارتباط آنها را با فضای بیرون به طور مطلق قطع نموده است .در عین حال خانواده ها از حق دریافت اطلاع صحیح و کامل محروم و از هرگونه اطلاع رسانی عمومی درباره وضعیت آنان به شدت منع گردیده و حتی برخی از اعضای خانواده به جهت اطلاع رسانی مورد تهدید و تنبیه و فشار ناموجه و غیر قانونی قرار گرفته اند.

ما اعضای خانواده آقای کروبی، آقای موسوی و خانم رهنورد قاطعانه اعلام می کنیم که مقامات عالی حکومت باید در اسرع وقت نقض حقوق قانونی و انسانی آنها را متوقف کنند. ما مصرانه خواهان آن هستیم که فرصتی فراهم گردد تا این عزیزان از ظلم رفته بر آنها و حجم انبوه اتهام ها، دستگیری بی مورد و خشونت رفته برخود، خانواده و تمام دوستدارانشان به پیشگاه مردم شریف و دلیر ایران شکایت کنند. آنها همیشه خواهان این بوده اند که در رسانه های ملی بدون حضور ارعاب گر نیروهای نظامی و مداخله گر، شرحی از اتفاقات پیش آمده و واقعیات لازم را بازگو کنند که این حق از آنان دریغ شده است. ما نیز چون آنها خواهان آنیم که این فرصت برایشان فراهم گردد . مداوا و مراقبت پزشکی از آنها باید مستمرا تحت نظارت تیم پزشکی معتمد خانواده صورت گیرد. ملاقات با افراد خانواده باید با همه آنها به صورت منظم و در محیط آرام و بدور از رفتارهای گزینشی صورت گیرد. مقامات عالی کشورباید تکلیف پرونده عزیزان ما را در اسرع وقت مشخص کنند و بعد از نزدیک به دوسال زندان غیر قانونی انها را فورا و بدون طرح هر گونه بهانه واهی ازاد کنند.

March 6th, 2013 – Kaleme reports that Zahra Rahnavard was allowed to visit her mother Ehteram Sadat Navab Safavi for the second time in three weeks accompanied by security officers. Two months after the passing of Rahnavard’s father, the late Sadegh Kazemi, Mir Hossein Mousavi continues to be deprived of visitation with his mother-in-law and has not been allowed to offer his condolences in person.
