Sunday August 8th 2010- Majid Tavakoli, on hunger strike along with 16 other political prisoners for the past two weeks is in dire physical condition as a result of his dry hunger strike (no food and water).
The 17 political prisoners at Evin prison who began their hunger strike two weeks ago protesting the violation of their legal rights by judiciary and prison officials, were transferred to solitary confinement and have been denied all contact with anyone outside of the prison since. The long duration of this hunger strike has caused serious concern amongst the families of the protesters and human rights activists. Many political activists and groups, including the leaders of the Green movement have published statements requesting that the protesters end their hunger strike. Ali Tavakoli, Majid Tavakoli’s brother while expressing grave concern for the well being of his brother who is on a dry hunger strike has requested that judicial authorities allow telephone contact with Majid so that his mother and other family members can try to convince him to put an end to his hunger strike. Ali Tavakoli told Daneshjoo News: “We are facing very difficult circumstances. They have obtained written commitments from the families of the political prisoners on hunger strike stating that they will be arrested in the event that they gather in front of Evin prison or the prosecutor’s office. They even contact the families and threaten them on the phone. My mother’s health has significantly deteriorated as a result of these threats and her concern for Majid.” Ali Tavakoli added: “We unfortunately have no news regarding Majid. We have no way of contacting him. We are extremely concerned for his physical well being. This is his 3rd attempt at a dry hunger strike. All we ask is that they at least allow us to talk to Majid so that we can convince him to end his hunger strike, but they have denied us even this right. If they are not men of religion, they should at least show some humanity and compassion.” With regards to the condition of the other prisoners on hunger strike Tavakoli said: “The condition of the other prisoners on hunger strike is no different. Everyone is extremely concerned and demanding that prison officials allow family members to contact the protesters and ask them to put an end to their hunger strike. In particular, the family members of Mr Samimi and Amouei are very concerned as they too have been on a dry hunger strike.” Source: http://www.daneshjoonews.com/news/student/2400-1389-05-17-17-50-43.html برادر مجید توکلی: اگر دین ندارید لااقل آزادمرد باشید/ بگذارند با زندانیان تماس بگیریم شاید اعتصابشان را بشکننديكشنبه, ۱۷ مرداد ۱۳۸۹ مجید توکلی که به همراه ١٦ زندانی دیگر از ٢ هفته پیش تاکنون دست به اعتصاب غذا زده است، همچنان با ادامه اعتصاب غذای خشک و عدم نوشیدن حتی آب خواستار رعایت حقوق زندانیان شده و در وضعیت به شدت نگران کننده ای به سر می برد. زندانیان سیاسی که اعتصاب خویش را از چهارده روز قبل و در اعتراض به نقض حقوق قانونی خود توسط مسئولین قضایی و زندان آغاز کرده بودند، همگی به سلول انفرادی منتقل شده و تمامی تماس های آنان با خارج از زندان قطع شده است. طولانی شدن مدت این اعتصابات موجی از نگرانی را در میان خانواده های زندانیان اعتصاب کننده و نیز فعالین سیاسی ایجاد کرده است، به گونه ای که تعداد زیادی از فعالین و گروه های سیاسی از جمله رهبران جنبش سبز با صدور پیام های جداگانه ای از ایشان درخواست کرده تا اعتصاب خود را بشکنند. علی توکلی، برادر مجید توکلی ضمن ابراز نگرانی از وضعیت برادر خود که دست به اعتصاب غذای خشک زده است از مسولین قوه قضائیه درخواست دارد تا امکان برقرای تماس تلفنی با برادرش را فراهم کنند تا بلکه مجید به درخواست مادر و سایر اعضای خانواده، اعتصاب خود را بشکند. علی توکلی به دانشجونیوز گفت: “شرایط را خیلی سخت گرفته اند. از خانواده ها تعهد کتبی گرفته اند که در مقابل دادستانی و زندان اوین جمع نشوند. در غیر این صورت بازداشت خواهند شد. حتی تماس تلفنی هم می گیرند و تهدید می کنند. تا جایی که حال مادرم از نگرانی و این تهدیدها به شدت وخیم شده است”. وی می افزاید: “متاسفانه هیچ خبری از مجید نداریم. هیچ راه ارتباطی برای تماس نیست. وضعیت جسمانی مجید به شدت نگرانمان کرده. مجید برای سومین باری است که اعتصاب غذای خشک کرده است. می گوییم لااقل بگذارید با مجید تماس بگیریم تا قانعش کنیم که اعتصابش را بشکند، ولی نمی گذارند. اگر دین ندارند لااقل آزادمرد باشند”. توکلی در توصیف شرایط سایر زندانیان اعتصاب کننده به دانشجونیوز می گوید: “سایرین هم همین وضعیت را دارند. همه نگران اند و درخواست دارند تا مسئولین زندان اجازه دهند تا خانواده ها بتوانند با ایشان تماس بگیرند و در خواست شکستن اعتصاب غذا را مطرح کنند. بالاخص خانواده های آقای صمیمی و آقای امویی که عزیزان آنها هم اعتصاب خشک کرده اند خیلی نگران اند
